A New Leader
Ferdinand Marcos was born on September 11, 1917 in Sarrat, a village in the Ilocos North region of the Island of Luzon in the Philippines. Marcos grew up in privileged surroundings. He attended school in Manila. In the late 1930's, he studied law at the University of the Philippines where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and took an interest in self-defense such as boxing and shooting to protect his family.
Ferdinand Marcos studied at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. Marcos was awarded the University President's Medal for obtaining the highest scholastic average over the full course of his college work. Because of his intelligence, he was capable to become the President. In addition, Ferdinand Marcos served as a Lieutenant at Bataan during World War II and promoted his political career based on being a war hero. |
